Snowy Christmas

Hi everyone, here is what I've been working on this morning.  I am entering this into the Artbymiran October 2015 Progressive Challenge.  Here is the link https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.855369931249059&type=1

Card recipe:

White cardstock from crafty stash
Blue cardstock from Create and Craft
Snowy Acetate from Hunkydory
Sentiment from Hunkydory
Snowflake embossing folder from Sheena Douglass
Stamped background from Sheena Douglass
Brads
Tim Holtz distress inks
Artbymiran Eirwen digi image coloured with Copics and Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor pencils
Pebeo Drawing Gum

To create this card I scored and folded a sheet of A4 white card to make an A5 landscape card blank.

I ran the blue card through the embossing folder and added to the front of my card.

After printing my image, I covered her with the drawing gum which makes a mask.  Once this was dry I then stamped the background.  After colouring my background I removed the drawing gum by rubbing with my finger which leaves the white image ready for colouring.

I edged the finished topper with distress ink and added to the left hand side of my card using wet glue.  I then added my sentiment in the middle of the right hand side, again using wet glue.

Finally, I added my snowy acetate to cover the whole image and background and attached using brads in each corner.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you like my card.

Penguin devil

Good morning everyone, here is what I've been working on today.  I am entering this into the Scrappers Delight Facebook Challenge.  Here is the link https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.723704851063597&type=1

I WON THE LAST FACEBOOK CHALLENGE WITH THIS CARD

Card recipe:

Black cardstock from crafty stash
Faux gems
Spellbinders flourish die
Tonic flower punches
Tonic fancy rectangle dies
Scrappers Delight  Little Devil digi image coloured with Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor pencils and Sakura Glitter pens
Tim Holtz various distress inks
Pebeo Drawing Gum
Tattered Lace hill die

To create this card I scored and folded a piece of
A4 white card to make a 5in x 6.5in card blank.  To this I added a piece of black card.

After printing my image I covered it with the drawing gum and left to dry which then forms a mask.

I then created the background using the distress inks by swiping over a piece of acetate which I had die cut with the Tattered Lace hill die.  I love this technique, I think it looks quite dramatic when finished.

Once my background was dry I rubbed off the drawing gum from my image and then coloured him with my pencils and glitter pens.

I then matt and layered him onto some white card and added to my main card.

Finally, I die cut two flourishes and punched the flowers, added them to my card and finished by adding three red faux gems to the centre of the flowers.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you like my card.

Xmas gift box

Hi everyone, here is one of the projects I have been working on today.  My son asked me to make three Christmas cards for him.  He is a care worker and he wants to send some cards to some of his residents.  This is the first one I have done.  I would be grateful to receive any comments you have.

Recipe:

Red cardstock from crafty stash
Green cardstock from crafty stash
White cardstock from crafty stash
White paper from crafty stash
Backing card from DCWV
Backing papers, topper and embellishments from Debbi Moore Santa Clause CD
Black satin ribbon
Tonic circle and fancy rectangle dies

Front view of project

Inside view of project

Top view of project

To create this project I cut a piece of red card measuring 9 and 3/4" x 5 and 1/2".  I then scored this at 4 and 3/8" and 5 and 3/8".  this makes the book shape.

I added a piece of black ribbon to the front and back before adding some of the backing papers which I had matt and layered onto green card both outside and inside.

Next I cut 2 pieces of white paper measuring 4" x 9" and 2 measuring 5" x 9".  I then scored all four pieces at 1/2" intervals along the long sides.

Next I concertina folded these four pieces and burnished using a bone folder to get a good crease.  The next step is a bit tricky, you need to connect one long and one short piece to create a right-angle by slotting the two pieces together and gluing to secure.  You then do this to the next two pieces and then join the four together to make the frame.  This then looks like a book from the sides.  (See last picture above.)  I hope this makes sense.

I then glued the frame to the inside of the card and die cut a frame to fit over the edges to give a neat finish.  You can then place whatever you like in the centre of this frame (ie scented candles, gingerbread men etc).  I have left it empty as my son's residents are all 80 plus so I thought he might like to add something appropriate for them.

I decorated the front using various toppers and embellishments.

The ribbon ties at the side to close.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you like my project.

Style Tutorial

Good morning, everyone, I thought I would do something different today and have prepared a tutorial.  Hope everyone can understand it!

Recipe:

White cardstock from crafty stash
Creata Teal mirror card
Bugaboo  High Heel Silhouette digi image
Teal foil paper
Sheena Douglass distress embossing folder
Tonic square die

Here goes with the tutorial:

First of all. you need to print out the digi image onto white cardstock using a laser printer.  If you want to foil an image, you have to use a laser printer or have the image copied at a photocopy shop.  Foiling will not work when using an ink jet printer.

Next, insert the image into a carrier sheet and add a piece of teal foil on top, then pass through a hot foiling machine.

The result is a fabulous teal foiled high heel shoe image which I think is pretty impressive.

Cut out four of the small foiled high heel shoes.

Next, run two pieces of the teal mirror card and white cardstock through the embossing folder.  This is one of Sheena Douglass' called distress.  Next, take the Tonic dies and cut the image out first, then another two different sizes, one in white card and one in the waste card.

The base card has been folded in half then the front panel folded back on itself to create the shape.

Matt and layer the two pieces of embossed teal and white card, matt and layer the main topper onto teal mirror card and add to the left-hand panel on the front overlapping to the right-hand side.

Finally, add the small high heel shoes, one on the front of the card at the bottom left and three on the inside of the card on the right.

This is the front view of the finished card when closed.

This is the view of the card when opened.
